THIS COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA
By Ogbonnaya Amarachi
A friend of mine called me to rant about the audition she went for today and that informed the topic of today's post.
Nigerian companies and their "Bully" attitude when it comes to auditions for their commercials. I know some people do not know what this means, so I will explain. She went for a television commercial (a.k.a. Advert) and there was this huge crowd because the company is a multinational and we all know how we worship multinational companies in Nigeria. After writing their names and standing in queues to get their turns in the audition, they come out to say that they needed young females in their early thirties, young men in their early thirties, older men in their sixties and seventies, older women in their sixties and seventies, ten year olds' (male and female), that wasn't what many of them heard from their agents before coming, there were young ladies in their twenties, likewise men and that made the huge crow to reduce.
She stayed back because she fell in the category of young women in their early thirties and after an hour, the secretary came back to announce that the female ten year olds' should go that they didn't need them there, ahn ahn aunty, but you didn't specify earlier na, those ones went home, the crowd kept reducing and people kept murmuring and enduring, you know Nigerians na.
Next, aunty comes again and said brief said fair young ladies in their early thirties, haaaaaa, mogbe, modarun, why evuls na??????? this company doing shakara needs the helps of these people being called for commercial o, but will be acting like they don't and trust Nigerians, they will still go back if another audition is called. Reminds me of the days when I was still going for auditions upandan, these so-called organizers will be misbehaving when in essence they know they need us to make their stories come alive.
Secondly, I encountered the typical Nigerian selfishness called mobile police escorts, pardon my choice of words, but really, have you met a traffic and while still crying over getting stuck in it, hear a siren from so-called convoys of "Special People," who instead of coming down to clear the traffic, just clear their path and speed off??????Yep that one, I encountered it today and that made me wonder what this country is all about finally. Tomorrow, these same "Special People" will come down to the level of the people when they need their help towards election and after election, dump them, more like use them and dump them.
Nigeria, the multidimensional country and the various people in it, we love us, but we need a correctional, working system.
Nigerians, 2019 is close by, have you registered???? Do you have your PVC??
Use your PVC, its the only weapon we have to correct the anomalies of this country, Use it wise.
Be wise.
Good evening my people.
