BRAND ME

Written by Amarachi Ogbonnaya

My weekend started on an energetic level, 9am, friday morning, 27th of July, 2018, I got smartly dressed and headed to Eko Hotels and Suites for the Brand Me Class 2018 on how to brand and rebrand my business.

I got there super late and when I got into the hall, it was filled to the brim with entrepreneurs who were eager to learn branding skills, wow.

The speakers were equally prepared for the mental knowledge of the crowd as they matched our eagerness with knowledge, word for word. The speakers who were invited to speak include, Charles O' Tudor, Francesca Uriri, Japheth Omojuwa, Wale Ayilare, Derrin Fagbure and Abiodun Sowemimo.

The highlight for me was when the Senior Manager, West Africa at Uber, Francesca Uriri ascended the podium, the crowd went into frenzy, not because we knew her, but because that lady is as talented as she is beautiful and her ability to carry the crowd along and make her words and illustrations relatable, we were literally blown away.

Then came Japheth Omojuwa, the famous "Twitter Advocate," he should be the one to write a book on how Twitter made him rich and famous, not Laura Ikeji, no offence to her writing skills, but, just saying. He literally didn't tell us how to make money on twitter though, guess that is his trade secret, but we did take some things home like, "Consistency is key", "Hype yourself", "Have a world class mindset even if you are leaving in a room apartment, these are the things that puts you out there and bring the clients."

There were lots of freebies like free business registration for one new brand, free professional brand consultation with an upcoming brand, etc.

The event ended with a vote of thanks from the convener, Jumoke Awe by 5pm.

The Brand Me Class was initiated by Jumoke Awe in 2015 and is targeted at promoting brand awareness and it has grown over the years.
