MOVIE REVIEW: KING OF BOYS, A KEMI ADETIBA PRODUCTION.

Written by Amarachi Ogbonnaya.

"I am Laburu, God's worst punishment in a person"...and that's when I knew I was in for a long treat... (Ding! Dong!! Ding!!!).

With my free puffcorn (the Wednesday movie gangπŸ˜€, who doesn't like free tinz πŸ˜•πŸ˜€), I settle my medium sized ass on the cinema settee, ready to see the special thing in this movie called King of boys that has been hyped for too long. Did you know that I refused to go and pee because of a three hours movie? Yep, I held it in because of feem, if only wiwi could talk, they would have sweared for me 😁.

King of boys follows the story of Alhaja Eniola Salami (Sola Sobowale), a business woman and philanthropist with a checkered past and a promising political future. She is a pillar of society, loved by many, feared by most and truly known by a select few. As her political ambition ambitions are her outgrowing the underworld connections responsible for her considerable wealth, she is drawn into a power struggle that threatens everything she holds dear. To come out of this on top, she will need every ounce of the cunning, ruthlessness and strategy that took her to the top, as well as the loyalty of those closest to her. But who can she really trust?

Casts: Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Reminisce, Jide Kosoko, Ill Bliss, etc.

This movie straight up addresses the corrupt system of Nigeria, hate it or love it, this movie portrays the powerful Nigeria cast system, "Oga at the top," "The rich and untouchable members of the society," "Underworld power tussle," etc, "we know them, but can't touch them syndrome," "Look the other side," no matter how we want to disagree, every member of society knows this.

I love the rich use of proverbs, it portrays Yoruba system as very deep, what about the religious implementation in the movie, it portrays the average Nigerian as a spiritual inclined being, in a bid to be protected from perceived enemies, we go and "cover ourselves." When Eniola Salami went to her white garment prophets for protection against Makanaki and he, to his herbalist to get her crown by all means possible.

I have always said everyone in Nigeria is an actor, whether as a career or not, if you think I am lying, go to the streets and see for yourself, always one drama or the other, else, who would have thought huncles illbliss and Reminice could act?

That huncle Makanaki, that small rat of yesterday thinks himself a man for coming out to fight madam oba? Ah oluwa o.

Sola sobowale has always been one of my fav actors, know why? When she acts, her whole body is involved in action, when she is thinking, her entire body is thinking, when she is angry? Chai, I don't want to talk abourrit😐.

Why did KEMI SALAMI die na? I don't hate what I like biko 😯.
The sign language between mother Enny and daughter, Kemi were on point, reminds me of an incident that happened in my growing up days, my mother tried using her eyes to communicate with me, I asked her, in a loud voice, if her eyes were paining her cause she kept blinking them at me and naive me, was genuinely concerned for her, chai, chisos is Lord, ehn, plix don't ask me what happened next 😐.

Ermmmm, when we got to the temptation scene, when inspector Gobir was faced between that huge amount of bribe money and acting as an honest man of integrity, guess what happened in the cinema hall (guess na, see you, amebo), everybody was just screaming, "Take the money joh mumu,, " ehen, wawu, no wonder corruption keeps flexxing muscles in Nigeria, when Nigerians are corrupt even while watching feem 😯😒.

That part of the robbery nko, ahn ahn, I dudnt believe it, inside coffin is even better, inside shit???? Ahan.

In conclusion, Kemi Adetiba, I still have standing beef with you o, You dinor choose me to act this feem, shebi now, I would have been wearing 50-50 shoulder pad on top king of boys, screaming I acted the feem too, you know, that kinda thing.

Kudos to you sis, no wonder it is rated top 5 movies in Nigeria, because 5 weeks its release, hall 6 of silverbird cinema, Ikeja city mall, was packed to the brim with people who came to see the movie.

I will recommend this movie to anyone, any day, anytime.
